This is apparently a more advanced type of heating system with Venturi effect ducts (like they have on F1 cars) that heats quicker and gets hotter… well I don’t know about all that, but it certainly works very well.

I have it at work next to my desk and it keeps me nice and warm without me having to be right on top of it. It gets hot in about five minutes and stays hot all day, using the built in thermostat to turn on and off as needed, saving electric.

The unit has three heat levels and I leave it on the lowest setting and it still gets too hot to touch. You might want to think about how it’s placed if you have kids or pets… it does get hot.

The unit weighs around 17Kg which is quite heavy, but it does come fitted with little wheels which work well, the wheels also fold away under the unit, for storage I assume. There is a fairly chunky power lead about a meter long which can be wrapped around a winder on the unit when not in use.

A great heater, but I have deducted one star because I think it is a little ugly, but functionally, it’s fantastic.

Got this to heat up my office.

It’s a great looking item, although a little on the large and heavy size – helped by being on castors.

Heats quickly, has a thermostat with a 5* c anti frost setting, 3 heat settings and works really well.

If you want an electric oil radiator then this one would bd hard to beat.

This Delonghi VV551225 Vento Oil Filled Radiator, hereafter referred to as the Vento, is a well-made product that performs as advertised.

The product description boasts of a ‘venturi effect’ to accelerate air flow through the heater. Much as I hate to admit it, in a side-by-side test with another oil-filled radiator of the same wattage my hand could indeed detect an apparently greater flow of warm air from the Vento. Nothing like the blast from a fan-heater, of course, but the Vento fulfills a different function.

Construction seems solid enough, although the Vento is not as heavy as other (much older) oil-filled radiators we have used. There is a three-year guarantee, but I would be amazed to need it. It is stable on its fold-out castors, it looks smart and has a neutral colour that will fit in any room, so anyone with a heating system to supplement through the cold months could well find it a very good choice. It lacks a timer, but as those things tend to tick and whir only too audibly in the dead of night I view that as a good thing.

My only negative point is that on heat setting #3, which is the highest, the smell of hot heating element is far too noticeable. I assume this odour will vanish quickly with use, but if not I shall be back to dock a star off my rating.
